2018 iPhones to Spearhead Apple’s AR Push, Apple Glasses Due in 2021
The iPhone trio projected to launch this year will be part of Apple’s renewed AR strategy that also includes the eagerly-anticipated Apple Glasses, according to an analyst.
Gene Munster says in an analysis of the way Apple expands its product offering that the three iPhone models launching this year will mark a major step in the AR ecosystem because they will include advanced optics for AR. Apple will then begin focusing more on AR apps, which the analyst says “will slowly become the next gold rush for developers,” before eventually, Cupertino launches its own Apple Glasses.
While Apple has long been rumored to be working on AR glasses, the launch has slowly been pushed back every year. Originally expected in 2018, analysts said the device is more likely to see daylight in 2019, before eventually being delayed to 2020.
