Apple Could Kill Off Lightning Port on 2019 iPhone, Go for USB-C – Report
Apple is planning several big changes on the 2019 generation of iPhones, and in addition to all models migrating from LCD to OLED (a transition that would begin this year), the company could also finally embrace USB-C.
This is what a new report from Digitimes notes, adding that both the iPhone and the iPad will support USB-C as the company is working on “redesigning chargers and related interface for the next-generation” models.
While this isn’t the first time we hear such a rumor, it’s important to note that the cited source has a mixed track on Apple scoops, so we better not take this for granted for the time being. Digitimes cites sources at analog IC vendors as the ones who disclosed the information.
