Apple iPhone 8 to Feature a Redesigned Fingerprint Sensor
Apple is expected to introduce a new design with the iPhone 8 and even offer a new fingerprint ID solution. There have been multiple reports about the new technology, and the latest report quotes industry sources saying that Apple has already selected the new solution.
Apple has decided to go with its own Authentec algorithm combined with Privaris glass identification technology for its new fingerprint ID solution. Apparently, Apple didn’t pick Synaptics’ Natural ID touch fingerprint sensor nor Qualcomm’s Sense ID fingerprint technology for its upcoming iPhone 8.
Apple’s Touch ID technology originally came from AuthenTec, the company that Apple bought in 2012. Three years later, Apple bought a number of patents relating to fingerprint and touchscreen technology, from Privaris.
Production of the iPhone 8 could start in September
