Apple Won’t Let Users Buy Its New Fast Charger Unless They Get a 2018 iPhone

Apple’s trio of iPhones going live this September will come with an upgrade in terms of charging as well, as the Cupertino-based tech giant has prepared a new fast charger for this generation.

The 18W USB-C fast charger is expected to be included in the box when getting a new iPhone, but according to a new report, it won’t be sold separately.

Such a decision is a little odd, especially because Apple is late to the party with fast charging capabilities. iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X are the models supporting fast charging, while Android smartphones have had this feature for many years already.

This year’s iPhone generation could benefit from upgraded fast charging and the 18W USB-C adapter will play a key role. Macotakara says only those who purchase a new iPhone would get the charger, as Apple doesn’t want to sell it separately in its stores.
