Dont hold your breath for face id to launch onFace ID is Apple’s big bet in terms of biometric authentication, and part of the company’s long-term strategy is to expand it to more devices.

So in addition to the iPhone, Face ID would eventually become available on more Apple products, including the iMac and the MacBook.

But on the other hand, the company isn’t at all in a rush to make this happen. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg says that while Apple is exploring such an approach, and it does want Face ID on the MacBook, the company sees no reason to hurry up.

And before Face ID makes its debut on the MacBook, it will most likely go live either on an external monitor or on the iMac, he says.

The facial recognition system launched in 2017 on the iPhone X, and Apple occasionally praised its benefits, explaining that it’s not only super-convenient to use but also very secure.
