It Wasn’t Just You: App Store, iMessage, FaceTime Down for Many Users

If you couldn’t connect to a series of Apple services earlier today, it wasn’t just you. Cupertino recently confirmed that it experienced an issue with a number of services, and they’ve been unavailable for nearly 4 hours.

On the system status page, Apple confirms that the outage impacted FaceTime, iMessage, the apps stores (including here the iTunes Store, Mac App Store, and the App Store), Apple TV, and the Volume Purchase Program.

“Users may have been unable to place FaceTime calls,” Apple says, adding that some might have been unable to make purchases in the app stores or access multiple services.

Some users who posted online claimed messages sent through iMessage never took off and had to be resent manually when the service came back online. In the case of App Store purchases, the process had to be restarted after Apple corrected the problem.
