New iPhones Will No Longer Come with a Headphone Adapter

Apple is getting ready to make another major step towards its transition from the traditional headphone jack to a truly wireless future.

This year’s iPhone generation may come without the Lightning to headphone jack adapter included in the box, with Apple instead trying to push customers to buying its AirPods. Obviously, the AirPods won’t be included in the box, so technically, this year’s iPhones make come without any earphones.

Cirrus Logic, the company that has previously manufactured the adapter shipped with older iPhone models, confirmed new Apple smartphones would ship without such an accessory, according to a Barclays note.

“Reported a beat but gave mixed guidance with revenue below but earnings ahead. Cirrus didn’t update its FY19 guide… but they did finally confirm the dongle loss, adding more support for our below estimates,” a research note is quoted as saying.
