Apple Could Launch a microLED Apple Watch in 2020
Apple is believed to be planning a new Apple Watch upgrade for the 2020 generation, as the company could switch from OLED to microLED on its smartwatch.
The report comes from Economic Daily News, which claims that the Cupertino-based tech giant is already in advanced talks with a series of display manufacturers in Taiwan for a collaboration that would eventually help make the upgrade on the smartwatch possible.
While there is no confirmation at this point, a Taiwanese supplier reportedly acknowledged talks with an American tech giant.
A new upgrade for the Apple Watch is expected this fall, albeit it is highly unlikely to feature a display upgrade like the transition to microLED.
At this point, the Apple Watch uses OLED panels manufactured by LG Display.
