Apple to Skip iPhone 8 and 9, Launch 2017 Model as “iPhone 10,” Analyst Says

Earlier this year, there were rumors that Apple planned to launch the new iPhone model as a variation of the iPhone 6, possibly called iPhone 6 SE, in order to save the iPhone 7 designation for next-year’s product which marks the 10th anniversary of the device.

And while this did make sense at some point, Apple decided that it wasn’t the right moment for skipping a generation and launched the new model as iPhone 7, making many wonder how the company plans to call the anniversary version coming out next year.

Cowen’s Timothy Arcuri says this isn’t a difficult guess because it’s more than obvious that Apple would call it “iPhone 10.” This means the company will skip several models, including iPhone 7s, iPhone 8, iPhone 8s, iPhone 9, and iPhone 9s.
